Keeping it simple

Well, most of the holiday rush is behind us now, and we hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah. As I look forward to the New Year, I have decided that 2012 will be the year to keep things simple. Here are some of the “fun” options I’m considering to make this happen:

1. Only wear black. This will save time getting ready because everything will match.

2. Skip separating clothes for the laundry; since everything is black, it can all be washed together.

3. Have every lock I come in contact with changed to use one key. No more fumbling trying to find the right one.

4. Shave the cat. This will save time cleaning the house.

5. Eat out nightly to avoid having to spend time cooking and cleaning the kitchen. Also eliminates the need to shop for groceries.

6. Replace the current lawn with artificial turf. No more time spent cutting the grass, pulling weeds or watering during the summer. Note: the money saved here on water and fertilizer will pay for eating out all the time.

Okay, so some of these ideas are not very practical, but the idea of simplifying things is solid. As the New Year approaches, ask yourself which tasks you currently do could be eliminated? Which could be made easier or more effective? Look for new ways to do things that may save you money or – better yet – time. Have a wonderful New Year!
